Obituary, Anne MacLay

Anne MacLay, 72, passed away quietly Monday, March 9, 2020 at her residence in Staatsburg, NY.

Born in Pawling, NY on June 26, 1947, she was one of nine children born to the late Roland and Agnes (Cunningham) Bauer.  She married Daniel MacLay in Pawling at St. John’s Church on August 27, 1967; he predeceases her.

She worked as a bookkeeper for the old Grand Union in Hopewell Junction until she retired.  She liked playing bingo and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Yankees.  In school she played a varsity of sports,  and loved going to the school games to watch her children play.  But she especially loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Daniel and wife Kelley of New Milford, CT, Michael and wife Maureen of Pawling, and Matthew MacLay of Staatsburg, NY; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Lindsey, Jody, Jaime, and William; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Deborah MacLay, her grandson, David MacLay, her six brothers John, Phil, Mike, Joe, Donald, and Jimmy Bauer and two sisters, Mary Bauer Barola and Barbara Perry.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Thursday, March 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home; burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
