Alice was born in Woolton, Liverpool, England to John and Ann Ashcroft on June 25, 1925.  She was one of seven children, her brother, George, survives her.

As a child, Alice attended St. Mary’s Catholic School.  She loved the outdoors and the simple things in life such as hopscotch, jumping rope and especially music and tap dancing.  During World War II Alice worked in an aircraft factory.  In 1944, at the age of 19, she met the love of her life at The Coffee House in Woolton Village.  Her “darling” Diego was serving in the US Army.  They were engaged four months later, then married in Liverpool on July 25, 1945.  Shortly afterward, Diego was rotated back to the States and discharged.  Alice joined him at their home in Chappaqua, NY eight months later.

Alice was a devoted homemaker who loved gardening, nature, reading, crossword puzzles and the NY Yankees. Together she and Diego raised five children who survive her:  Barbara Bueti Temple of Pawling, NY; Sandy (Bonnie Roy) Bueti of Torrington, CT; John Bueti of Ojai, CA; Debbie (Robert) Stoever of Pawling, NY and Rick (Tricia) Bueti, of Old Lyme, CT.  She is also survived by eight loving grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice touched many lives and will surely be missed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Marie Montgomery, Caroline Kennedy, Bridget Comerford, Siobhan McNamee and the team at Hudson Valley Hospice for the care and compassion shown during her illness.
