Missing Elderly Man Found

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports that on November 1, 2019 at approximately 5:41 a.m., the Mount Pleasant Police Department reported a missing elderly male who had not been heard from since 1:00 p.m. the previous day. The Mount Pleasant Police immediately broadcasted over the Westchester County Hotline information about the missing subject and the vehicle that he was driving. The Westchester County Department of Public Safety immediately entered the missing person’s vehicle information into all data bases in the event that the missing subject’s vehicle hit any location in Westchester County.

At approximately 8:56 a.m. the Real Time Crime Center (RTC) received a hit of the missing person’s vehicle and alerted all patrols via the hotline of the subject’s location and an all points bulletin was issued. At the time of the alert a member from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, who was on a “detail assignment” at the RTC, immediately called dispatch in Carmel to advise them that the subject may be heading to Putnam County and advised them to put an alert out to all patrols in the area.

At 9:14 a.m., Sheriff’s Patrols located the elderly male subject and the vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Brewster. A Brewster Fire Department Ambulance was dispatched to check on the male subject. Mount Pleasant Police and Westchester County Police RTC were notified that the subject has been located and they contacted the missing party’s family who responded to Brewster to pick the subject up and bring him home.

With the technology implored by Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center (RTC) and having a member of this department assigned down there, as a shared resource, the family was able to be reconnected with the subject with a positive outcome.

The Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center is a collaborative of over 40 Federal, State, and local agencies that utilize all the modern technology with License Plate Readers, Video Monitoring Systems that as a result of working together has solved violent crimes, located stolen vehicles, and assisted in locating numerous endangered or lost parties.
