Pawling Rotary …At Your Service

Pawling Rotary …At Your Service

By Susan Stone

Fall is always a busy season for the Pawling Rotary Club. As membership continues to grow (member John Colantuono was inducted most recently), the club continues to find ways to serve the community.

Here’s a short list of upcoming projects and events that are destined to make a difference.

The Rotary club was visited by District 7210 Governor, Cindie Kish, on October 8th, who discussed a list of projects that will be tackled by clubs throughout Dutchess and Putnam counties. Pawling Rotary will hold a coat drive on November 2nd with donated coats going to the Pawling Resource Center for distribution. Any coat that is in good condition and is currently taking up needed space in your closet will be offered a good home by one of our neighbors in need. Coats will be collected at Pawling Recreation in the Lathrop building of Lakeside Park and at the offices of Emery Webb, 33 East Main Street in the village of Pawling.

Rotary has donated a (very) large screen smart TV to the town which will benefit the Recreation Department (this is where it will be mounted for use by movie watching campers and after schoolers, and will also be available for presentation purposes by local organizations. This was given as a special thank-you to the Town of Pawling for supporting Rotary since it’s very beginnings, dating back to 1940.

Plans are currently underway for the annual holiday party which will be held in Lankler Hall at Christ Church on Quaker Hill, on December 17. Grants totaling more than $10,000 will be given to local organizations that support Pawling’s youngsters as well as Rotary’s International Foundation in support of children’s health initiatives.

Rotary is always looking for new members to join their merry band of do-gooders. Interested philanthropists may contact John Ammaturo at 855-3010 for information.
