Obituary, David Edward Towle

Clinton Corners – David Edward Towle, 58, of Clinton Corners, NY, beloved husband for 17 years of Patricia Garthwaite Towle, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, surrounded by his family at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in NY, NY. Born in Houston, TX on January 21, 1961, son of the late Lester Stanley Towle, Jr. and Elizabeth Mary (Bruce) Towle, he was raised in Houston, TX and had lived in Clinton Corners, NY since 2002. After high school, David started his career in construction in the Houston area and later went to work for his brother and sister-in-law. David worked in product sales for Rio Vista Products, an equine and dog shampoo and conditioner company, and he later took over the company and marketed the products at horse shows and trade fairs throughout the country, traveling over 250,000 miles with his dog Kokomo. After marrying Patricia Garthwaite in 2002, he moved to New York and was an active part of managing his wife’s equestrian facility, Tatra Farm in Clinton Corners, NY. A surfer since he was a young man in Texas, David loved surfing the waves at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, and always took a ride up whenever a hurricane was approaching to catch the giant waves. He was a golf fanatic and was often found playing a round with his golfing buddies, whom he loved spending time with. After suffering a heart attack in April of 2012, David approached his rehabilitation like everything else in life, with optimism and excitement. He made many friends that became his “Cardiac Rehab Buddies” and he loved spending time with them and entertaining them at lunch. Besides his loving wife, he leaves two siblings, Lester “Tex” Towle and Elizabeth “Beth” Towle both of Texas; three sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Towle of Houston, TX, Diane Hansen and her husband Robert of Tolland, CT, and Christine Garthwaite of Windsor, CT; a brother-in-law, Robert Garthwaite and his wife Nancy of Windsor; seven nieces and nephews, Nikole Ruddy and her husband Michael of Storrs, CT, Erik Hansen of Ashford, CT, Adam Mehan and his wife Chrissie of Broad Brook, CT, Rebecca Mehan and her husband Kevin Schlottmann of Jackson Heights, NY, Kate St. Amand of Barkhamsted, CT, Amanda Nagy of Windsor, CT, and Maegen Casey and her husband Kyle of Windsor, CT; seven great-nieces and nephews, Julia and Jasmaine Ruddy, Rosalie and Thaddeus Schlottmann, Hunter and Declan St. Amand, and Roland Nagy; his “Bromance Buddies” – Mike, Paul, Trevor, and Jimmy; and his horse, Moonshot. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James B. Towle; his father and mother-in-law, William Richard Garthwaite, Sr. and Marie A. (Schaub) Garthwaite; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mehan; and his faithful Border Collie/Cattle Dog, Kokomo who just passed on September 18th. His family will receive friends on Saturday, October 19, 9-11 a.m., at  807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m., at St. Damien of Molokai Parish-St. Gabriel Church, Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in the Poquonock section of Windsor. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 1 p.m., in the indoor arena at Tatra Farm, 290 Schultzville Rd., Clinton Corners, NY.
