Merwinsville Hotel offers 32nd Annual Arts and Fine Crafts Show and Gala

Celebrating fall and local artists will be the focus of the 32nd Annual Arts and Fine Crafts Show this month.

The two-weekend show will launch with a gala preview party Friday, Oct. 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 p.m. The Red Hots will perform live music with classic jazz standards, old blues tunes and feisty originals with their blend of unique vocals and ukulele/guitar mix with driving organic percussion. The band includes vocalists, Cynthia Preston and Petra Herceg, backed by Russell Preston on guitar and blues harp and Jay Margolin on percussion.

Gala attendees will be able to browse and purchase artwork before the general public, as well as enjoy catered hors d’oeuvres, desserts and drinks in the historic structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tickets for the gala party are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; hotel members are $20 each. Purchase online at www.merwinsvillehotel.org.

The Arts and Fine Crafts Show has been a long tradition during the Columbus Day Weekend. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12-14. The show continues for a second weekend Oct. 19-20.

Many local artists take advantage of the shows offered at the Hotel to sell their work and support the ongoing restoration underway in the 175-year-old building. A portion of all sales benefit the Hotel.

Those looking for gifts of original artwork by local artists will find a great variety of framed oil paintings, watercolors and photography. The fall show also features the work of artisans in glass, jewelry, woodwork, pottery and more.

A $2 donation per person is requested. Children under 10 are free. Members are admitted free and this year members with a “sponsor” membership (or higher) will receive a 10 percent discount on art purchased.

The Merwinsville Hotel is located at 1 Brown’s Forge Road in Gaylordsville, CT, only 15 minutes from Kent, Sherman, New Milford and the Harlem Valley/Wingdale Railroad Station. For further information, call 860-350-4443 or visit www.merwinsvillehotel.org
