County Clerk Kendall Announces U.S. Naturalization Records Index Accessible Online
Poughkeepsie, New York: Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall announces the Index to Petitions for Naturalization is now available in full word-searchable form on the Dutchess County Clerk’s webpage. The Dutchess County Naturalization Records contain all surviving items relating to naturalization in Dutchess County under federal law, from 1800-1991. While this index only covers the petitions and not other document types, it can be used in conjunction with other finding aids. The index can be found by visiting www.DutchessNY.gov/
The Dutchess County Clerk’s Office complete repository for naturalization records dates back to 1759. These records include entry books, petitions, reports, and certificates. Uncertified copies of the records are available in the 2nd floor Record Room of the Clerk’s office.

The County Clerk’s Office continues to transform services into an electronic future, I am excited to implement the fully digital index, and the benefits it will bring for researchers who take advantage of this service,” said Brad Kendall, Dutchess County Clerk.
The Dutchess County Clerk’s Office is honored to take part in the final step of the naturalization process. In Dutchess County, naturalization ceremonies are held bi-monthly to induct new citizens of the United States of America and are open to the public with all invited to attend. The next naturalization ceremony will take place on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Haviland Middle School—Auditorium, 23 Haviland Road in the Town of Hyde Park.
County Clerk Kendall will administer the Oath of Allegiance to approximately one hundred individuals. The Honorable Christi Acker, New York State Supreme Court Justice, will preside over the ceremony. Lauren Molella, Miss New York 2019, will deliver the keynote address welcoming participants as newly naturalized American Citizens.
Ms. Molella holds 5 STEM degrees and teaches in the Physical Sciences, Biology, and Psychology Departments at the college level. As Miss New York her platform is advocating for her personal social impact initiative Voices of Honor: Serving America’s Heroes. Lauren works to implement suicide prevention statewide, address communities where risk factors like PTSD are rampant, highlight our military women, and utilize social media and appearances to bring the people of New York to the forefront of helping our heroes.
