KENT NY – A Patterson man was killed and his father seriously injured when the car in which they were traveling in rolled over and crashed into a tree stump Monday night on Towners Road.
John Sprague, 44, of Patterson, was thrown from the 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck. He was pronounced dead at Putnam Hospital.
His father, Joseph Sprague, 67, of Kent, had to be extricated from the truck by the Lake Carmel Fire Department.
He was taken to Putnam Hospital , then airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he is in serious condition with chest injuries.
The crash took place near the intersection of Hill and Dale Road at 6:45 p.m. The driver apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to roll on its side into a tree stump located on private property.
Investigators do not know which of the two men were driving when the crash occurred.
