Molinaro Invites Residents to Free Outdoor
Screening of ‘Mary Poppins’ at Bowdoin Park

‘Poppins in the Park’ dinner-and-a-movie event October 5th

Poughkeepsie … Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro invites residents to enjoy a free outdoor screening of the classic 1964 film, “Mary Poppins,” at Bowdoin Park on Saturday, October 5th.  Residents will also have an opportunity to learn about Dutchess County’s Parks Master Plan and proposed improvements. The event will begin at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at 7 p.m.

Residents are asked to RSVP at dutchessny.gov/poppins; walks-ins will also be accepted. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, as well as a picnic dinner. Dutchess County’s Parks Division will provide free popcorn and hot chocolate, and there will be a campfire. Food trucks will also be available on-site for food purchases. Glass containers and alcohol will not be permitted on the park grounds.

County Executive Molinaro said, “Dutchess County’s award-winning parks are several of the many attractions that make us distinctly Dutchess, and our free ‘Poppins in the Park’ event is a great way for families to enjoy an Academy Award-winning film in a picturesque outdoor setting. We invite residents of all ages to come enjoy dinner and a movie under the stars at Bowdoin Park.”

Bowdoin Park will host “Poppins in the Park” at the bandshell and adjacent hill. Normal park hours in early October are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The bandshell and hill, as well as restroom facilities, will remain open for moviegoers through the duration of the film.

“Poppins in the Park” is the most recent community event Dutchess County has hosted in conjunction with Dutchess Tourism, Inc. at Bowdoin Park. The park welcomed thousands of spectators for several concerts the past two summers, including Southside Johnny & and Asbury Jukes this past July, as well as The Drifters and The Coasters in 2018.
