State Police Montgomery are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 84 in the town of Montgomery

Update: The State Police have identified the man killed in the crash on Interstate 84 in the town of Montgomery on September 10, 2019 as Thomas E. Hallahan, age 32 of Newburgh, NY.

On September 10, 2019, at approximately 6:30 p.m., State Police Montgomery responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 84 in the town of Montgomery. Preliminary investigation reveals that a black 2008 Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling in the passing lane behind a tractor-trailer and another uninvolved vehicle. The pick-up truck enters the right lane and passes the tractor-trailer and the other vehicle. The operator of the pick-up truck attempts to return to the passing lane when he struck a tractor-trailer in the right lane and loses control. The pick-up truck rolls over several times traveling approximately 150 yards and ejecting the operator. The operator of the pick-up truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Interstate 84 westbound is closed in both lanes. Traffic is being diverted off of exit 5A westbound and getting back on at exit 5.

This is an ongoing investigation. State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the State Police at Montgomery at 845-457-1388.
