Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a man after Sheriff Deputies respond to a Domestic Dispute. On September 1, 2019, at approximately 4:50 a.m., Deputy Matthew Shelters was dispatched to a Putnam 911report of a male/female, physical domestic dispute in the parking lot of the Flory’s Mobil, located at157 Bryant Pond Road in Putnam Valley. Deputy Robert Detlefs also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the deputy Shelters spoke to both parties.

Through interviews and an investigation conducted by the Deputies, it was determined that the male, 31-year-old,
Steven Tomassetti of Poughkeepsie did strike his 23-year-old girlfriend multiple times in the face and did take her
cell phone away from her when she attempted to call 911. Steven had also been driving the vehicle on Wood St,
with a license that had 7 total suspensions (6 on 5 dates). Tomassetti was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree- Prevent or disable a person from requesting emergency assistance (Class A Misdemeanor), Harassment in the Second Degree- Physical Contact (Violation), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree- (Misdemeanor). In addition, the male was also charged with an Aggravated Family Offense (E Felony), due to the fact that the male was previously convicted of a specified Family Offense within the last five years. After being placed under arrest, the male was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility, arrest processed, and held for arraignment.
