ArtEast Open Studio Tour Kicks Off 13th Year at Beekman Library

Mark your calendars for the upcoming ArtEast Open Studio Tour Kick-Off at the Beekman Library, Saturday, September 7, 1-3pm. Artists will be presenting a sampling of their work and many will be on hand to discuss their practice. In its 13th year, ArtEast has grown into a regional attraction and is delighted to open this year at the library.

The ArtEast Open Studio Tour is an award-winning, free, self-guided driving tour happening over two weekends: October 19-20 and 26-27 You are enthusiastically invited to visit the studios, creative work-spaces, and galleries of 30 artists in eastern Dutchess County, New York. The ArtEast Open Studio Tour is the proud recipient of the 2017 Art in Public Places Award, a Dutchess County Executive’s Arts Award.

During the studio tour, artists open their doors to the public, showing their work in their studios, barns, galleries, homes, and garages. All are welcome. Artists greet their guests and speak to them about the work they are showing, what inspires them, Artists can answer questions about the media and the techniques they use to create their work, as well as their personal inspiration.

The artwork is for sale but that does not outweigh the emphasis on increasing awareness and building relationships by welcoming guests and making them comfortable in the artists’ environment. Taking place over two weekends, this is a perfect excuse to drive country roads in peak foliage season and visit spaces that are not usually open to the public

Visit the Beekman Library and get a taste of the tour and select the studios you’d like to visit. What will you see? Painters, photographers, printmaker, potters, muralist, birdhouse creators, fiber, jewelry, mixed media, and sculptors are a sampling of the artists who make up ArtEast.
