Obituary, Andrew Joseph “Andy” Swantek, Jr.

Pawling – Andrew Joseph “Andy” Swantek, Jr., 73, a resident of Pawling, NY for the last 18 years, passed away in Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel on Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Formerly of Yonkers, Andy was born on September 3, 1941 in Yonkers to the late Andrew Swantek, Sr. and Paraska (Kocur) Swantek of Pawling. Andy received his bachelor’s degree from Iona College, and worked as an accountant for Carvel and Pinkertons. He married JoAnn Sarich on November 16, 1963 in St. Michael’s Ukranian Church, Yonkers. In his later years, Andy worked as a security officer at the Peale Center in Pawling. He belonged to the Lakers Athletic Club in Yonkers, and was a great fan of the N.Y. Yankees, the Giants, and the Rangers, and he had a great passion and love for golf, and played whenever he could.

In addition to his wife and mother, Andy is survived by his two daughters, Ann-Marie Swantek of Ridgefield, CT and Suzanne Swantek of Mamaroneck, NY. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his Godchild, Lesley Spatta.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 15th from 3-7 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling; burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000 DEPT 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
