Obituary, Chester Bruskewicz

Stormville – Chester J. Bruskewicz, of Stormville, passed away at home on Sunday, August 11, 2019. He was 90.

Son of the late Frank and Josephine (Yokovsky) Bruskewicz, he was born in Yonkers on December 5, 1928. Chester was a graduate of Saunders Trade & Technical High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served during World War II.

For many years, he owned and operated Town Bootery, a shoe store in Tarrytown. Chester had many hobbies: he was a gifted carpenter, loved to sing, was an avid reader, and also enjoyed automotive repair.

A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, where he sang in many church choirs.

In 1947, he married Mary Mastrovito at St. Casimir Church in Yonkers. Mary survives at home in Stormville.

Additional survivors include his children: Gretchen Altabef, Paula Clinchy & her husband Richard, Pamela Russo & her husband Theodore, Frank Bruskewicz, Julianne Trell & her husband Mark, Beth Szlos, and David Bruskewicz & his wife Sharon; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives & friends.

Chester was predeceased by his son-in-law, Michael Altabef.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13 at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14 at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
