“Stuff the Bus” Re-stocks the PRC Food Bank

In spite of the searing heat, the Pawling Rotary “Stuff the Bus”  annual event took place on Sunday, July 28th, and was a rousing success. The generosity of the Pawling community provided nearly 1800 pounds of food, 3305 diapers, and 579 rolls of paper goods!  Additionally, cash donations were also collected so that the PRC could buy anything else that was needed.  Hannaford’s also wheeled out 3 shopping carts and a u-boat full of goods donated from staff and corporate headquarters.  Hannaford Corporation provided one hundred $50.00 gift cards.
Volunteers at the day’s event included  Rotary members Lori Johnson, Dick Harshbarger,Margot Jacobs, Jeff Asher and organizer/ graphic designer Ann Godesky (also a PRC Board member); PRC Board members Sue Smith and Dorlaine McLaughlin Judy who helped organize the donation boxes; CSEA drivers Paul, Yvette and Kevin; PCSD Superintendent Kim Fontana; PRC volunteers Delia Willis and  Catie Savarese;  and Library Director and Rotary member Brian Avery, Robert and Kerrie Willis, Christine Bexley and Lawrence Greenberg, who arrived as fresh recruits to help unload, weigh and shelve items at the PRC.
This Rotary-sponsored event is a partnership with the Pawling Resource Center,  The Pawling CSD, which provided the bus, Hannaford’s, whose staff prepared the store with “Stuff the Bus” signs listing needed items, and Interim Store Manager Sam Lunham, who facilitated the Hannaford participation.
The Pawling Resource Center and all event partners are extremely grateful to everyone who donated time, pantry goods, money and energy to this great event that benefits the Pawling community!
