North Castle, New York – On July 28, 2019, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate 684 in the town of North Castle.

Troopers were dispatched to southbound Interstate 684 near exit 3N for a report of a vehicle off the roadway at approximately 7:20 p.m.  Initial investigation found the 2014 Dodge Charger, operated by John M. Saunders, age 74, of Mamaroneck, NY, was operating in the center lane.  He then veered right and then veered across the center lane into the left lane for unknown reasons.  The vehicle struck the center guard rail and rolled over into the median.

Mr. Saunders was treated on scene by Armonk Emergency Services, Armonk Fire Department, and Westchester Emergency Medical Services before being transported to the hospital.  Mr. Saunders, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at Westchester Medical Center.

This investigation remains on-going.
