Union Vale, New York – On July 24, 2019, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested John F. Kosinski, age 74, of Union Vale, for Vehicular Assault in the 2nddegree, a class E felony, and Driving While Ability Impaired Combined Alcohol and Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.

On May 11, 2019, the New York State Police investigated a serious motor vehicle crash on Chestnut Ridge Road in the town of Union Vale.  An investigation determined Kosinski, operating a 2016 Subaru Forester, was traveling northbound on Chestnut Ridge Road, and struck a pony drawn carriage carrying Maryjean Calvi, age 61, of Millbrook.  Calvi sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover.  The pony, unfortunately, had to be euthanized.

Further investigation and the receipt of laboratory results led to the development of probable cause to arrest Kosinski for vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired.

Kosinski was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Union Vale Court on August 7, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.
