Kinderhook man arrested for recent burglaries

Columbia County, New York – On July 13, 2019, the New York State Police from the Livingston and Kinderhook barracks arrested Elmanuel Casiano, age 55, of Kinderhook, NY, for three counts of Burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th degree, two counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, all class A misdemeanors.

An investigation found Casiano was responsible for the overnight burglaries of the Salvation Army in the town of Greenport on July 9, 2019, the Columbia Diner in the town of Kinderhook on July 12, 2019, and the Salvation Army again on July 12, 2019.  Approximately $134 in U.S. currency was stolen from the Salvation Army in Greenport, and an undisclosed amount of cash along with the safe during the second burglary.  The Columbia Diner reported approximately $300 in U.S. currency stolen.

Casiano was located with a small amount of crack-cocaine in his possession in the city of Hudson.

Casiano was arraigned before the town of Greenport Court, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.  Casiano is next scheduled to appear before the Court on July 22, 2019, at 3:30 p.m.
