Somers, New York – On July 8, 2018, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks began investigating a suspicious incident involving two men posing as police officers asking homeowners if they had security systems in place.

The two pictured subjects were observed in what may be a grey 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driving around a residential neighborhood near the Katonah area of the town of Somers.  They reportedly identified themselves as police detectives using a fake badge, and stated they were looking for video evidence of burglaries in the area.  When the homeowner pointed out the home surveillance cameras the subjects promptly left.

The State Police are both looking for any person who may have additional information regarding these two individuals, and advising the public of this criminal activity in the Somers area.

Any person who may have information that may lead to the identification and location of the two pictured subjects is asked to please contact Investigator Becerra of the New York State Police, SP Somers, at (914) 769-2600.  Please reference case# 9020781.
