University of California at Berkeley

The science research program at Pawling High School continues to prosper. Junior, Ellie Farquhar, was accepted to a symposium through the Bay Area Conservation Society based in the University of California, Berkeley to present her research on the behavior of sharks in response to the mask colors worn by divers. She was able to participate in the symposium from April 27th through the 29th, 2019 sharing her research with doctoral students and undergraduate researchers, as well as professors based out of UC Berkeley. She met with researchers in the field, and discussed the additional shark research she is planning on conducting in the Bahamas this summer. Ellie commented that, “The experience was unforgettable… I met so many college professors who were willing to discuss my research and help me with feedback on my methodology for this summer!”  -Ellie Farquhar
