Obituary, Emily Sue Higgins – Services June 22, 2019

Emily Sue Higgins, 30, of Elm Street died on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT after a long battle with cancer. Emily’s beautiful smile and personality touched so many people. She was well loved and will be dearly missed.

She was born on January 16, 1989, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Higgins in New Milford, CT. She graduated from Dover Union Free High School in Dover Plains, NY in 2007. She later received an Entrepreneurial Degree from Plattsburgh State University in 2011. Emily was currently employed as a manager for the Skinny Pancake Restaurant.

Emily was most happy in the kitchen baking and canning. Her pickles were the best! Emily, also, was an avid Harry Potter fan reading all of the books and watching all of the movies over and over. As a teenager, she volunteered with the Youth Group at the Pawling Methodist Church for four years traveling to Appalachia helping to rebuild homes in need.

Survivors include her parents, Tom and Nancy Miller of Wingdale, NY; her companion, Daniel Keaton Gallager of Montpelier, VT; her paternal grandparents, Viola and William Higgins of Mount Holly, VT; aunts and uncles; Gregory Higgins, Katrin and Tom Tazza, Bethany Thompson, Terase Higgins, Ralph Miller, Jr., Vallejo, CA, Joyce Miner, Sam and Marie Miller, Tom and Lenie Miller; many cousins; her dog, Banjo and cat Quentin. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ralph and Susan Miller and an uncle Gary Miller.

A Memorial Service for Emily will be held at the Pawling United Methodist Church, 2 Dutcher Ave., Pawling, N.Y. at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

Her family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses on Shep 4 and Dr. Nunnink with whom she shared a special sense of humor, for her excellent care.
