Ten from DCC Receive SUNY Awards

May 28, 2019 –Four Dutchess Community College students and six employees received awards from the State University of New York (SUNY) recently.

Jason Baker, Mariama Ceesay, Amanda Fultz and Trevor Tatunczak were among just 210 students from the 64 SUNY campuses presented with Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence. The award recognizes the integration of academic achievement with accomplishments in leadership, athletics, community service, performing arts, campus involvement and career achievement. All four students graduated from DCC in May.

SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching were given to Associate Professor of Speech and Theatre Dr. Thomas Costello and Assistant Professor and Department Chair of Allied Health and Biological Sciences Karen Ingham. Costello joined the College in 2013 and Ingham has been with DCC since 1990. Dr. Kristy Bruse, who has taught biology at DCC since 2015, earned the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.

Susan McGlynn, assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Jennifer Wrage, director of Academic Services and Testing, received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service. McGlynn has served the College for 10 years while Wrage joined DCC in 2012. Greg Starzyk, supervisor of grounds and 18-year DCC employee, earned the Chancellor’s Award for Classified Service.
