Poughkeepsie, New York – May 21, 2019 – The New York State Police is spearheading the statewide “Buckle Up New York” (BUNY) Campaign May 21 through June 30, 2019, in support of the National “Click It or Ticket” mobilization. Troopers will be joining forces with local and county law enforcement officers to ensure motorists begin the summer travel season buckled up.  Troopers will be out at checkpoints and in roving patrols.

New York State crash data indicates approximately one-third of all motor vehicle occupants killed on highways are unrestrained. This zero tolerance, high visibility enforcement (HVE) campaign is designed to draw attention to the risks faced by unbuckled passengers in motor vehicles.
