About Barrett Art Center

Since its founding as the Dutchess County Art Association in 1935, the organization’s mission has been to foster and perpetuate an appreciation of the visual arts in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Today, the organization operates under the name Barrett Art Center and interprets its mission broadly. It sustains its diverse contemporary art community through world-class art exhibitions that are free of charge and open to the public, and it maintains a strong presence in the community, bringing together thousands of participants each year through collaborative art and history programs to reach diverse audiences in its inner-city neighborhood.
