Obituary, Salvatore S. Tropea ‘Sal’

Salvatore S. Tropea ‘Sal’, of Patterson, NY, died Monday, May 13, 2019, at Putnam Hospital Center. He was 71 years old.

Born on January 19, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Salvatore and Giovanna (Parisi) Tropea. Sal graduated from Evander Childs High School in Bronx, NY.

On August 22, 1970, he married the love of his life Janet J. Tito in Whitestone, NY. In 1997 they moved to Patterson, NY after living in Rye, NY for many years.

Sal was the plumbing supervisor at Rye Playland for 28 years before retiring in 2002. One of his greatest passion in life was Opera singing, he was in 2 productions, one with the New Rochelle Opera Inc. Sal also enjoyed deer hunting. However his grandchildren took precedence in his life, they were #1 to him.

Mr. Tropea is not only survived by his loving wife of 48 years but also his daughters; Jennifer Teneyck (John) of Hopewell Junction, NY and Jaclyn Khan (Kash) of Fishkill, NY, his grandchildren; Alison, Christian, Madison and Zara, his siblings; Phil Tropea and Maria Amodeo. He was predeceased by his brother John.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 20, 2019, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Noonan Drive, Carmel. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Beecher
Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 2pm-6pm.
