NEW FAIRFIELD WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SUSPENDED LICENSE AND RESISTING ARREST

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a New Fairfield woman for driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. On May 4, 2019, at approximately 12:59 p.m., Deputy Kevin Osika observed a vehicle commit traffic violations on Route 202, in the Town of Southeast. Deputy Osika initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. A check of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle computer system revealed that the driver, Deborah Kern, age 56, had a suspended license in the State of New York. When Deputy Osika attempted to place Ms. Kern under arrest, Ms. Kern failed to obey commands and resisted arrest. Ms. Kern was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for arrest processing. Ms. Kern was processed and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor), and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor). Ms. Kern was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court. Ms. Kern was released on her own recognizance, pending a future court date in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
