New York Army National Guard opens new recruiting office in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, May 11

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (05/08/2019) (readMedia)– New York Army National Guard Recruiters will host a grand opening “Open House” at their new recruiting storefront in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, May 11.

The open house begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. at the new storefront recruiting center located at 2656 South Street.

Visitors will be able to inspect an Army National Guard truck and humvee and talk to recruiters and National Guard Soldiers about opportunities for training, additional income, and education aid while serving.

National Guard Soldiers leave home for the same full-time basic an advanced training that Active Duty Soldiers go through, and then serve one weekend a month and two weeks a year in local communities. National Guard Soldiers respond to state emergencies as well as being prepared to deploy as part of the United States Army.

The open house event will feature an on-site broadcast by WRWD FM107.2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a gaming trailer, a weapons simulator, a football toss game and a punching bag game.

Members of the press are welcome to attend the opening of the facility and speak with New York Army National Guard Recruiters.
