Anita M. Fahs, of Brewster, NY, formerly of Somers, NY, died peacefully at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home on Monday April 29, 2019. She was 91 years old.
Born on August 22, 1927 in Bronx, NY, the daughter of Rudolf and Gertrude (Goohs) Stein, Anita graduated from Jamaica High School. She married the love of her life Otto and together they raised 4 children and several foster children. Otto predeceased his wife in 1985.
Together, Anita and Otto owned German delicatessens in the Long Island area; the final one being Otto’s Deli in Wantagh, NY. She loved birds, loved to crochet and especially loved tending her flowers – often exhibited at flower shows. She had a gregarious personality, had many friends, and was known as a grandmother to all.
Anita is not only survived by her loving children; Karl Fahs, of Carmel, NY, Lynn Miller of Somers, NY, Dorothy Lucy of Clintondale, NY, and Lora Fahs Kuritzky of LaGrangeville, NY, but also by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 2, 2019 at 10am at Ivandell Cemetery, Somers, NY. Interment will immediately follow. Friends and family may visit Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Wednesday, May 1 from 3-7pm.
