County Awards $502,000 for Affordable Housing Projects
through HOME Investment Partnership Program
Awards part of County’s $1.5 million in total HOME and CDBG awards in 2019
Poughkeepsie, NY … Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro has announced grant awards totaling $502,000 to be awarded through Dutchess County’s 2019 Home Investment Partnership Grant Program to provide affordable housing throughout Dutchess County. These awards are part of almost $1.5 million in funding awarded in 2019 through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership programs to improve accessibility, expand affordable housing options and address critical public service needs.
County Executive Molinaro said, “Everyone deserves safe housing at an affordable price, and these projects will provide quality housing options for some of our most vulnerable residents – the very aim of the HOME Investment Partnership Program. We look forward to directing future HOME funds to similarly beneficial projects to assure more Dutchess County residents can find quality housing at prices they can afford.”
HOME Investment Partnership Projects – total funding $502,000
22 Balding Avenue, City of Poughkeepsie – $200,000
Rehabilitation of 7-unit rooming house to address life, safety and accessibility issues as well as create 2 additional units.
Red Hook Phase II, Village of Red Hook – $250,000
New construction of 40 two-bedroom apartments in 10 4-unit building adjacent to the existing senior apartments. Units will be affordable to households ranging from 50-100 percent of the county median income.
Rebuilding Together – $52,000
Rehabilitation of 10 single family homes throughout Dutchess County occupied low- and moderate-income households, often senior citizens, by volunteers.
CDBG Municipal and HOME applications are accepted annually by the Department of Planning and Development. CDBG Public Service applications are accepted bi-annually. Applications are reviewed by the Community Development Advisory Committee with recommendations forwarded to the County Executive for final approval.
The County is currently reviewing applications from a second HOME application round. Those announcements will be made within the next two months. Applications for 2020 CDBG and HOME funds will be released in August 2019. More information about these application cycles can be found on Dutchess County Government’s website.
