State Police investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash in Philipstown

Philipstown, New York – On April 13, 2019, the New York State Police investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on State Route 9 in the town of Philipstown.
On April 13, 2019, at approximately 6:20 a.m., the State Police responded to State Route 9 north of State Route 301 for a fatal two-car motor vehicle crash. An initial investigation found that a 2018 Dodge Challenger operated by Isaiah Byars, age 25, of Derry, NH, was northbound on Route 9, and for unknown reasons entered the southbound lane. Byars’ vehicle struck then struck a southbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Isaiah Byars was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency medical personnel.
The operator of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Philipstown Ambulance.
