Three arrested for drug possession after going off the road

Chatham, New York – On March 23, 2019, the New York State Police from the Kinderhook barracks responded to a property damage motor vehicle crash on State Route 295 in the town of Chatham, and arrested three subjects for drug possession.

Joseph Patterson, age 39, of New York, NY, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony.

John U. Adams, age 40, of Dalton, MA, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Casey K. DuPont, age 40, of Stockbridge, MA, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 12:25 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to State Route 295 and Birge Hill Road in the town of Chatham by Columbia County 911 for a one car motor vehicle crash.  An investigation found DuPont possessed approximately 1 gram of Clonazapam, Adams possessed approximately 0.5 grams of cocaine, and Patterson possessed approximately 12.7 grams of cocaine.

DuPont and Adams were issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Chatham Court on April 3, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.  Patterson was arraigned before the town of Chatham Court, and remanded by the Honorable Judge Rosen to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secure bond.  Patterson was next scheduled to appear before the Court on March 26, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
