Berkshire Taconic Announces Second Round of 2019 Deadlines for Northeast Dutchess County

Sheffield, Mass. — Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation today announced the second round of deadlines for competitive grants in northeast Dutchess County in 2019. Regional nonprofits and students are invited to apply for funding during the spring grants cycle from April through June. FOR NONPROFITS

The Wassermann-Streit Y’DIYAH Memorial Fund supports projects that include an aspect of the culture, history or experience of traditional Judaism in material or programming. Y’DIYAH is Hebrew for “learning,” and the goal of the fund is to encourage authentic knowledge of the expression of traditional Judaism, leading to an understanding of the commonalities of all people while acknowledging diversity. Applications are due April 1.

The Northeast Dutchess Fund supports nonprofits, public agencies or community organizations that serve the residents of Amenia, Clinton Corners, Dover, Millbrook, Millerton, North East, Pine Plains, Stanford, Washington, Wassaic and Wingdale. Grants of up to $3,000 will be awarded. Applications are due April 15.

Harvard Business School’s Governing for Nonprofit Excellence is a four-day executive education program designed to enhance leadership and governance skills. Nonprofit board chairs or vice chairs in the region may apply for a scholarship to attend the program. The value of the program is $5,000. Applications are due May 1.

FOR STUDENTS

The Alice and Richard Henriquez Memorial Fund and Youth World Awareness Program provides grants to students ages 14 to 22 for international travel and service. Grants range from $500 to $1,500 for individual applicants; larger grants may be considered for groups. Applications for Millbrook residents are due April 1.

The Violet H. Simmons Scholarship Fund provides college funding to graduating seniors of Webutuck High School. The fund will award a scholarship of up to $14,000, divided equally over up to four years of undergraduate education. Applications are due April 29.

The Alice B. Henriquez Memorial Fund Writing Prize was established to encourage young people to use their writing and analytical skills to address contemporary issues. The fund will award a prize of $1,000 to a senior at Webutuck High School based on the quality of a 500-word essay. Submissions are due May 1.

The Tabor Foundation Fund supports residents of northeast Dutchess County and northwest Litchfield County who plan to undertake education or training in a health care or medical field and to seek employment in their community afterwards. Nonresidents working in the area may also apply. Grants of up to $4,000 will be awarded. Applications are due June 30.
