Obituary, Mary C. Shortt

 

Mary C. Shortt, 88, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT.

A resident of Pawling for 37 years formerly of Yonkers, she was born in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Glavin) Hughes.  She graduated from St. Elizabeth’s in Albany and did one year of grad school at Fordham.

She later worked in the telephotograph department at AT&T in White Plains and married Thomas Shortt, who passed away in 2005.

Mary attended St. John’s Church, Pawling and was a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her Goddaughter, Susan Thomson, of Vermont, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Diane Shortt, of Connecticut, and many good friends, including Terry Iorio of Holmes.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is predeceased by her son, Michael who passed away in 1980, her daughter Eileen who passed away in 1991, her daughter Elizabeth who passed away in 2002, and her daughter Mary who passed away in 2013.

Friends may pay their respects Friday, March 15th from 6-8 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.  The Catholic Daughters will conduct a service at 6 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday the 16th at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling; burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
