Obituary, Raymond Kozara

Raymond Kozara, 89, passed away Monday, Ma0rch 11, 2019 at Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, NY.

A 15-year resident of Pawling, NY, he was born in Yonkers, NY on August 15, 1929, and was one of seven children born to the late Peter and Mary (Marut) Kozara. Raymond grew up in Yonkers and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Amalia M. Powers in Yonkers, NY on June 15, 1952; she predeceased him on December 21, 2017. Raymond worked as a carbon filtration expert at Refine Sugar, now Dominos Sugar, in Yonkers until he retired.

Raymond was a member of the Blue Jay Club in Yonkers and was an auto mechanic buff.

He is survived by his son Raymond (Sheila) of Shrub Oak, NY; three daughters, Michele (Daniel) Fennell of Pawling, Kathleen Conley of Ossining, and Valerie Quartaro (Larry) of New Fairfield, CT; 10 grandchildren, Ray & Kimberly Kozara, Samantha Fennell, Kali (Michael) Connell, & Daniel Fennell, LJ, George, and Elise Quartaro, and Meghan Behzadi & Kristine Conley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Frank, and sisters Ronnie, Frances, Sophie, Betty, and Audrey.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY on Wednesday, March 13th 6-8 PM. Burial will be Thursday in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
