Obituary, Sidney W. Ball Sr. 

Sidney W Ball Sr, 60, of Amenia, New York, passed away on February 21, 2019, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Sid, as he was known to all, was born on August 16, 1958, in Sharon, Connecticut to Gerald and Nancy (Drum) Ball. Since the age of 14 Sid could be found working on many local farms, including the McEnroe Organic Farm. When Sid was not farming he spent his time bowling, hunting, and fishing with his family. He continued his love of farming by volunteering at many local organizations including the 4-H program and enjoyed every August at the Dutchess County Fair in the pig barn cheering his grandchildren on as they competed in showing animals.

Sid is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Foley) of nearly 43 years as well as their 5 children: Sid Jr (Heather), Rich (Theresa), Rob (Sam), Tracy (John), and Travis. He is the cherished grandfather of Alexis Shields, Sid III, Christian, Nicholas, Kayla, Taylor, Ariana, Lauren, Cameron, Robert, and Toby Jace Ball, and one great-grandchild, Brooklynn Connors. Sid is also survived by his sisters Marge and Mindy and his brother Joe as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents as well as his three siblings George, Walter, and Robin Ball. Throughout his life, he became a friend to many and had an extended family through his friendship with the McEnroe family.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, from 4pm to 7pm at 41 Main Street in Sharon Connecticut. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 28, 2019 ,at 10 o’clock at the Faith Bible Church located at 222 Silver Mountain Road, Millerton, New York.
