Millerton – Virginia F. “Ginny” Jones, 78, a resident of DeLand, FL and formerly of Millerton, NY died February 7, 2019, in Deland, FL.
Born November 8, 1940, in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Arleigh Milan and Harriet E. (Cummings) Frink. Ginny resided in Millerton, NY until 2001when she and her husband Don retired to Orange City, FL.
On June 6, 1959, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY she married Donald J. Jones. Mr. Jones died April 9, 2013
After attending Millerton Elementary School and graduating from Webutuck Central School she was employed by New York State at the Wassaic Developmental Center and the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center for 25 years. She was also employed by Hotchkiss School, Attorney R. Fitzgerald and the Berkshire School. She also worked part-time as a Court Clerk for Justice Sanford Kaplan.
Ginny enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and in more recent years quilting. She was a member of the Millerton Methodist Church and The First United Methodist Church of DeLand, FL where she volunteered in various activities. She had a great love for God’s creatures and she and Don had many rescue pets over the years. She was a member of NARFE, AARP and after her retirement delivered meals-on-wheels in Millerton. She leaves many cherished friends that she was blessed to have in her life.
Interment will take place at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton, NY in the spring. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Northeast Baptist Church. Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, FL and the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546 have care of the arrangements.
