04/06/15 – The New York State Police – SP Highland BCI announce the arrest of 33 year old Frankie Vargas of Brooklyn, NY for the class D felonies of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree and twelve counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree. Vargas was additionally charged with Driving While Ability Impaired – Drugs (an unclassified VTL misdemeanor) as well as the class A misdemeanors of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

On 04/06/15, Vargas was arrested after a brief vehicle pursuit on the New York State Thruway which ended in Town of New Paltz. It was discovered that Vargas had three active warrants including a felony New York State Parole warrant. Investigation also revealed that Vargas possessed a small quantity of heroin along with approximately 80 forged instruments consisting of fraudulent Western Union checks, Allstate checks and Money Gram checks.

Vargas was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court by Town Justice Bacon and was subsequently remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. Vargas was set to re-appear in the Town of New Paltz Court on 04/07/15 at 6pm for a felony preliminary hearing.
