Dover Plains – William Robert Hitsman, 71, a resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Born on April 30, 1947 in Ogdensburg, NY he was the son of the late Robert and Margaret E. (Sears) Hitsman. Mr. Hitsman was a truck driver at Taconic DDSO for 25 years.
Mr. Hitsman is survived by a son, George Dorn and his wife, Amanda, of Dover Plains, NY; two daughters, Melissa Galm and her husband, David, of Hilton Head, SC and Sharon Schooner of Poughkeepsie, NY and a sister, Rose McKay of Dover Plains. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Mikaela Grant, Tristan, Ashlynn and Karstin Galm, Caleb Dickinson, Melinda, Mariah and Landon Dorn and Mackenzie Winsker and a companion of 10 years, Michelle Curtis of Dover Plains.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitsman was predeceased by his wife, Ann Schooner Hitsman on August 25, 2003. He was also predeceased by a brother, Edward Hitsman and a grandson, Jacob Harley Schooner.
