One-car fatality in Village of Fishkill

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a one-car fatal crash which occurred on Main Street in the Village of Fishkill at approximately 5:30 pm on 1/10/19.
On the above date and time, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 1140 Main Street in response to a 911 dispatch for what was originally thought to be a multi-vehicle crash at that location. Upon arrival, it was determined to involve one vehicle with one occupant, with CPR in progress. The operator/sole occupant, Don A. Tuangtuang (age 62 of Newburgh) was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Mr. Tuangtuang was operating a 2002 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Church Street, at which time it continued through the intersection with Main Street without stopping and ultimately struck a stone wall and the building at 1140 Main Street. The vehicle came to rest against the stone wall, with the front end partially through the building’s large glass window. At this time the investigation and witness statements indicate that the primary factor in the crash appears to be a medical emergency that Mr. Tuangtuang had while driving.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Village of Fishkill Police, Village of Fishkill Fire Department, Rombout Fire Department, and Mobile Life. The investigation is continuing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
