State Police investigate the death of a Mamakating man

On January 10, 2019, State Police Wurtsboro responded to Larson Road in the town of Mamakating for a report of a male found along the side of the road. Stephen Warner, age 70, of Mamakating was located deceased in a ditch along Larson Road. His vehicle was located stuck in the lawn on the adjacent property at 17 Larson Road.  Mr. Warner resides across the road at 20 Larson Road. An investigation revealed that the vehicle was running and got stuck in the lawn at approximately 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2019. Mr. Warner had injuries consistent with that of a fall and appeared to be in the elements overnight. Neither Mr. Warner nor the scene indicated any criminal act. An autopsy conducted on January 10, 2019, determined the cause of death to be hypothermia with contributing cardiac issues.
