Obituary, Gerald F. Sargent (Gerry)

Gerald F. Sargent (Gerry), a resident of Millbrook, NY passed away on January 3, 2019 with family and friends at his side.

Gerry was born June 25, 1943 in White River Junction, Vermont to Marjorie and Bartlett Sargent, both who predeceased him. He was President of Gerry Sargent Excavating Inc. From 1964 – 1966 he served his country with the US Army and received a National Defense Service Medal after his tour in Vietnam. He was an active Charter member and Sr. Vice Commander of Millbrook VFW Post 9008, and each year, orchestrated the Millbrook Memorial Day Parade. Gerry was also a longtime member of the Millbrook Fire Department, the Millbrook Rod and Gun Club, former member of the Millbrook Lions Club and former President of the Millbrook Snowmobile Club. He was a very active member in the community who gave unselfishly to so many. Gerry was passionate about his work. He loved working with the earth and it was magical to watch him run machinery. It was an art of its own.

Gerry is survived by his son Dylan Sargent-Brown, son Billy Sargent (Delilah), daughter Sharon Zampko (Patrick), grandson Jacob Zampko, granddaughter Lia Zampko, brother Paul (Carol) Sargent, sister Linda McReynolds, brother Bartlett Sargent Jr. and several wonderful nieces and nephews.  Gerry is predeceased by his wife Kelly Sargent and son Benjamin Sargent-Brown.  We love you, MORE and miss you Gerry!

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9 from 4-8 pm at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 11 am at Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Millbrook VFW Post 9008, P.O.
