Dover man charged with felony assault of Stormville Man

Town of Washington, New York – On March 29, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Dover Plains barracks arrested 21-year-old Richard A. Ashby, Jr., of Dover, New York, for Assault 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.

On March 28, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to the Carraine Mobil Home Park on McArthur Place for a reported assault. Troopers interviewed the victims who reported that they were attempting to make repairs on a septic system and were confronted by tenants of the park. The tenant’s verbal confrontation escalated to a physical dispute. Investigation revealed that Ashby kicked one of the victims in the face with steel toe boots.

The victim, a 36-year-old Stormville man, was transported to Sharon Hospital where he was treated for a facial fracture that required surgery.

Ashby was arraigned before the Town of Washington Justice Court. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond and is scheduled to return to the Town of Washington Court at a later date.
