Obituary, Harold “Hal” K. Schliecker

Harold “Hal” K. Schliecker, 88, passed away quietly on December 17, 2018, at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY after a long illness.

Hal was born on October 22, 1930 son of Klaus Schliecker and Maria Heinsohn. He was raised in Bronx, NY and attended New York University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as an interrupter during the Korean War. Hal was an Elevator Foreman Field Superintendent for Local #1, retiring to Florida in 1985.  For the past 3 years, he has called Pawling his home.

Hal’s hobbies included trailering, boating, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, bowling and square dancing. He was a lifetime member of the Valhalla Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Masonic Order and the Elks Lodge.

Hal was a one-of-a-kind man who will be dearly missed and cherished by all.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (Noble) Schliecker, who he married on September 22, 1956, in Fort Schuyler Presbyterian Church in Throggs Neck, NY; two daughters, Janet Tompkins (Dan) of Pawling, NY and Joyce DeSanctis (Jim) of Port Orange, FL; and was the proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, with two more expected in 2019.

Family and friends may pay their respects Friday, December 21st from 4 PM to 8 PM at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.

Funeral Services will be held at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22nd at 11 AM.
