PUTNAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RESPONDS
TO BOMB THREAT AT LOCAL BUSINESS
Putnam County Sheriff, Robert L. Langley Jr. reports that on December 13, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to T.Webber Plumbing and Heating, located at 3365 Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown, on the call of a bomb threat. Upon arrival to the scene Deputies set a perimeter around the premises and evacuated the building, which had approximately 20 people inside.
In addition to the Deputies, The Emergency Service Unit (ESU) of the Sheriff’s Department, the New York State Police and the Fire Department responded to the scene.
Bomb dogs from both the New York State Police and the Sheriff’s Department were on the scene and conducted a search of the facility and determined that the bomb threat was not credible.
As a safety precaution the Sheriff’s Department closed surrounding roads, including Route 9, for a short period of time until the threat was deemed unfounded.
The threat appears to be part of a wave of bomb threats that were reported that same day against businesses, schools, hospitals and other places across the United States and Canada.
Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating the source of the threat.
