Peekskill man arrested after attempting to take holiday gift using an axe

PRESS RELEASE
Putnam Valley, New York – On December 13, 2018, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Sean S. Date, age 54, of Peekskill, NY, for Robbery in the 1stdegree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, both class A misdemeanors.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to Oscawana Lake Road in the town of Putnam Valley for a report of menacing with a weapon.  An investigation determined $30.00 was given to Date and the victim to share by a customer as a holiday gift for their refuse collection services.  Date attempted to forcibly take the entire $30.00 of U.S. currency from the victim using an axe.

Date was arraigned before the town of Putnam Valley Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 bond.  Date is next scheduled to appear before the Court on December 19, 2018, at 9:30 a.m.
