Obituary, John Conti

John Conti, a 60-year resident of Pawling, passed away at the Candlewood Valley Health Care Center in New Milford, CT on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at almost 96 years old.

Born in Manhattan on December 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Angelo and Filomena (Bergazzi) Conti, and husband of Mary (Cavaleri) Conti, who passed away September 8, 2016.  John worked as a chauffeur, and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-45; John was in Normandy on D-Day.

John worked as a therapy aid at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, Wingdale, NY from which he retired on April 17, 1983.

He was a former member of the Hasler-Kamp Post American Legion for 56 years, and a former member of the Pawling Fire Department.

He is survived by his daughter, MaryJane Murphy of Palm Coast, FL two grandsons, Paul and Timothy Murphy, both of New Milford, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, December 16, 2018, at 1 PM at St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Church.
