Obituary, Andrew Lee BeCoates

MILLBROOK – Andrew Lee BeCoates, 84 of Millbrook, NY, left us with heavy hearts on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Andrew Lee was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Andrew and Larvenia BeCoates on the 14th of February 1934. In 1945 the family relocated to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. There he attended the S.F.B. Morse Elementary school for two years. After moving to Millbrook he graduated M.M.S. High School in 1952, and he also entered the USAF the same year. Lee completed technical training in Biloxi, Mississippi graduating as a Ground Radio Operator. Lee fought in Vietnam and was stationed in Germany and Thailand. After retiring from the military as a civil engineer he joined and operated a North American Van Line Operation Service, and worked for and retired from the US Postal Service. After retiring from “ALL” work he enjoyed life with his friends by participating in the sports world of golf, softball, cross country, motorcycle riding and bowling. He was inducted into the Millbrook HS Hall of Fame for Softball in 2016. He was a great challenger of his brother Emmett for the title of “Best of NY Times” crossword puzzle time competition contest. Lee was a generous philanthropist throughout his life. He was a beloved brother, uncle & friend. “UNK”/ Uncle Lee is and always will be loved, adored & cherished.

He is survived by his sister Marian Jessie BeCoates who resides in Phoenix, AZ, a host of nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook, on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 11:00 am – 1:0,0 pm.
