State Police continue to investigate Town of Pleasant Valley Motor Vehicle/Pedestrian Fatal

Pleasant Valley, New York – On April 3, 2015, at approximately 9:00 p.m, Troopers from the New York State Police Poughkeepsie barracks were dispatched to State Route 44 in the area of Timothy Heights for subjects fighting in the roadway.

Moments later, Troopers were advised that the two subjects had been struck by a motor vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Route 44. Investigation revealed that a Volkswagen operated by 24-year-old Katherine Marriott, of Clinton Corners, New York, had struck 53-year-old Nelly Umpierre, of Pleasant Valley, and Kenneth J. Seiferheld, 66 years old of Pleasant Valley, New York.

Both subjects were transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital where Seiferheld was pronounced dead as a result of the collission. Umpierre remains in critical but stable condition.

Weather conditions consisting of heavy rain and dense fog were contributing factors to the crash.

The State Police were assisted by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.
