CONNECTICUT MAN ARRESTED ON GUN AND DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on Gun and Drug Possession charges. On October 30, 2018, at approximately 2:40 am, Deputy Shane Rossiter observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Inter-State 84, in the West-Bound lane, in the Town of Southeast. Deputy Rossiter initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Benjamin Hartley, age 33, of Mansfield, Connecticut was in possession of Concentrated Cannabis, Marijuana, and a Hand-Gun (for which Mr. Hartley does not have a pistol permit). Mr. Hartley was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for arrest processing.

Mr. Hartley was processed and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (Violation). Mr. Hartley was arraigned in the Town of Kent Justice Court, on behalf of the Town of Southeast Justice Court. Mr. Hartley was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $20,000.00 cash-bail/ $40,000.00 bail-bond, which he later posted. Mr. Hartley is due back in court to answer to the charges he was arrested for.
