Obituary, Angela Esposito

Angela Esposito passed away peacefully on November 9, 2018, just shy of her 102nd birthday.

She was a resident of Putnam Ridge in Brewster, NY, where she had resided sine 2009.  Angie enjoyed its activities, concerts, and the other residents.  The staff’s exceptional care for her was comforting to her family.  Thank you June, Diane, and Josh.

She was born on November 20, 1916 in Brooklyn to Michele and Antonia (Cutrone) Minerva, and was 8th of 11 children: Tess, Peter, Anna, Andrew, Dominick, Rose, Patty, Al, Will, and George…all part of the “Greatest Generation”.

Prior to her marriage, Angie was an expert seamstress, working for a children’s clothing manufacturer.  She used a designer’s sketch to make a pattern and sew a sample outfit to be marketed to department stores.  Her niece, Carol, would then receive all the sample originals, lucky girl.  After her marriage to Salvatore Esposito, she worked at Crum and Forster Insurance on Long Island.  She and her husband lived in North Bellmore, NY before retiring to Toms River, NJ in 1984.

She survived her husband, Salvatore Esposito, who died in September 1991.

Angela had a “zest for life”; she enjoyed entertaining and traveling.  As stated by her nephew, Michael J. Minerva, “She was a pillar of warmth, love, generosity, and good humor all her life”.

She is survived by her niece, Carol Aprile of Pawling, NY and many more nieces and nephews in New York and across the country.  They remember the love and fun she brought to their childhood and beyond.

Calling hours are Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 2-4 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.  Burial will be Monday at 11:30 AM at Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
